Communication is the topic of the first six lessons given on cable TV. (To send this to a friend, copy and paste it on to an e-mail!)
God communicates directly and personally with you and me in concrete and specific ways. Here are just six of the ways:

Communication - The Written Word
I am so delighted to be with you today! What an awesome God we have! Even if you do not know Him personally, the Lord God Almighty is Awesome!
Today we will be discussing how God communicates with us. Yes, the Lord God Who is all powerful, all knowing and sees everything - Seeks you and me out to speak with us personally!! This is the third of six lessons. Webster's Dictionary defines communication as: the giving or exchanging of information.
Notice it takes one to give information, and two for an exchange of information. In all six of our lessons, God is the initiator of the dialogue with us! God is the first one to communicate with us!! And God wants our exchange, our response in return.
One way God communicates to you and me is through His written Word, the Bible. The Bible presents a unified message of redemption and love from God for His people throughout history. God inspired more than 40 authors to write 66 books over a span of 1500 years for the expressed purpose of communicating with you personally. No one else has or ever will go through such lengths to reveal their most intimate thoughts, emotions, desires, commands and ways to you for the exact reason of having a vibrant relationship and life with you!
In the Bible God tells you and me "Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28 "Come now, let us reason together," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; Isaiah 1:18 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 The Lord says, "I have loved you with an everlasting love." Jeremiah 31:3
God declares that His Word is True, trustworthy and without error. "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man (or woman) of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." 2 Tim 3:14-17
"Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit." 2 Pet 1:20,21
What makes the Word of God so unique is not just that it's been intact and without error for almost 3500 years, but that it has an effect on the heart of the reader and hearer of the Word. And that effect is exactly as God purposes!
God says, "For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." Heb 4:12 "My Word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. Isaiah 55:11
I cannot explain how this happens, but I know that God's Word is spiritual food and it has an effect. When a person takes God's Word to heart, God performs open soul surgery. God's purpose for His Word is to bring you and me, and everyone, into a deep abiding relationship with Himself based upon His Son Jesus Christ, Who is the Word of God (Jn 1). "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my Word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. Jn 5:24
We can choose to believe and trust God's Word for our personal life, or not.
Jesus said, "63The Spirit gives life;
the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and
they are life. 64Yet there are some of you who do not believe."
Then He asked, 67"You do not want to leave too, do you?"
How have you been living? With God or without Him? Do you open God's book daily to read His thoughts to you, His love and commands for you? When you read them, do you take them into your heart and allow God to change you for the better? Do you respond to the Lord with your words, thoughts and actions?
Or do you ignore God's Word for you as if He doesn't matter? Do you shut God off acting as if other things are more important than the God Who created you and deserves your worship and attention?
Whatever your choice, remember that God is constantly wanting you to read His Word personally, for your heart and life. God wants to make a difference in your life, but you need to actively invite Him to do that, and allow Him to change you.
Please pray with me -
Lord God thank you for having Your Word the Bible written for me to know you intimately. Please forgive me for every time that I have pushed you aside and valued anything as more important than what you have to say and do for me. Jesus, thank you for coming down from Heaven to teach me the value of your word, and for dying on the cross to take away my sins. Please fill me with your Holy Spirit that I would learn from you and live for you forever and 4ever, in Jesus Blood I pray, Amen.
If you've prayed that prayer, please let us know. We have something to send you. May God bless you now and always in His tremendous Love!!
Additional Notes -
For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account. Heb 4:12-13
"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands. Isa 55: 8-12
Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law does he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish. Psalm 1
Your Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Psalm 119:105
The Law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes. The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever. The ordinances of the Lord are sure and altogether righteous. They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb. By them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward. Psalm 19:7-11
Your word , O Lord, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens. Psalm 119:89
Jn 1 1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was with God in the beginning. 12Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God-- 13children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God. 14The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Jn 3
The roman centurion trusted God at His Word, too. For that his son lived,
5When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help. 6"Lord," he said, "my servant lies at home paralyzed and in terrible suffering."
7Jesus said to him, "I will go and heal him."
8The centurion replied, "Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed. …. 13Then Jesus said to the centurion, "Go! It will be done just as you believed it would." And his servant was healed at that very hour. Mt 8
God is sovereign and in full control, yet He gives you and me free will to choose Him or reject Him. God's Word says "God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Rom 5:8 and Jesus confirms this "I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing. Jn 15:5God's Word is Alive!
